Celebrities are given the privilege to be a voice of authority as well as a source of entertainment. My very first celeb interview was with musician Anthony Wong, after he announced to the world that he's gay while wearing a dildo hat at his concert. His coming out story was provocative and influential toward the betterment of the LGBTI community in Hong Kong. He maximised the potential of his public persona and influence by coming out the way he did. Inspired by his story, the following year Denise Ho came out has Hong Kong's first lesbian celeb and musician and I had the pleasure to speak to them both about their message for social change in Time Out's very first LGBTI issue, which I spearheaded. It's fun to speak to celebrities that actually have something to say.
